Big New Orleans Dreams

New Orleans Square is preparing for a huge transformation, and Tiana has big dreams for the heart of Disneyland. It’s no surprise that Splash Mountain is being reimagined as Tiana’s Bayou Adventure in both Disneyland and Walt Disney World Resorts, but the French Marketplace will also undergo a transition at the Happiest Place on Earth.

The Way to a Man’s Heart is Through His Stomach

The French Marketplace is known for its Mint Juleps and warm, sweet Mickey Mouse beignets. Its location overlooks the Rivers of America and offers a nice, shady spot to recuperate and listen to some live music as you make your journey into Frontierland, Critter Country, and Galaxy’s Edge. This, however, will be the new location of Tiana’s Palace, the highly successful restaurant she’d been dreaming of since she was a little girl.

Disney Imagineers have put their thinking caps on to reimagine this classic quick-service restaurant and plan to bring it back in 2023, bigger and better than ever. When it does return, The menu will expand on many of the current favorites served in the location, explore seasonal flavors and offer some New Orleans classics. As a special treat, guests can shop at the new Princess and the Frog retail shop. This includes Eudora’s Chic Boutique featuring Tiana’s Gourmet Spices, where guests can purchase home and kitchen goods and stylish clothing.

When Will the French Marketplace Close?

The French Market Restaurant and Mint Julep Bar will be closed beginning February 17, 2023, and will reopen as Tiana’s Palace later in the year. Don’t worry. The Mint Julep Bar, with its famous Mint Juleps and sugar-dusted Mickey beignets, will be back.

If a New Orleans beignet is a must-have snack while visiting Disneyland, you can still stop by Ralph Brennan’s Jazz Kitchen in the Downtown Disney District for the sweet treat and a cup of Jumbalaya soup.
