Disneyland’s iconic Haunted Mansion has recently undergone a major transformation, unveiling a new, expanded queue and themed outdoor space. This renovation, which began in January 2024, aims to enhance the guest experience by providing more room and incorporating additional spooky elements into the attraction.
What’s New in the Queue?
The new queue features beautifully landscaped grounds with mossy hues, sprightly statuary, and autumnal plants that create a year-round eerie atmosphere. The expanded area includes a personal garden retreat designed by Master Gracey, one of the mansion’s longest inhabitants. This garden features a fountain with the face of a sea maiden, a wrought iron gazebo, and various intriguing artifacts like a well-read book and an astrological armillary sphere.
Guests will also encounter the eccentric garden of Madame Leota, the mansion’s resident seer. The garden is filled with mystical energy, featuring fortune-telling orbs, a large oak tree decorated with colorful ornaments, and a greenhouse where the mansion’s ghosts cultivate unusual plant species.
Accessibility and Convenience
One of the most significant improvements is the addition of an accessible elevator exit, making the Haunted Mansion more inclusive for guests using mobility devices. The new queue also offers dedicated spaces for Madame Leota and the mansion’s ghosts, as well as a pet cemetery and a horse-drawn funeral hearse.
The Haunted Mansion Holiday
Currently decorated for the holiday season, the Haunted Mansion is transformed into the Haunted Mansion Holiday, inspired by Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas”. This seasonal overlay will be available until January 6, 2025, and features festive decorations and themed entertainment.
Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond
A new shop called Madame Leota’s Somewhere Beyond is set to open this winter. The shop will offer Haunted Mansion and “The Nightmare Before Christmas” merchandise, adding to the attraction’s supernatural aura.
The new Haunted Mansion queue at Disneyland is a must-see for fans of the classic attraction. With its expanded grounds, enhanced accessibility, and seasonal overlays, the Haunted Mansion continues to be a beloved and thrilling experience for visitors of all ages.
We’ll be going live from TikTok to see the new queue on December 4, 2024. Hope to see you all there!
